EMILY CURLEWIS APPOINTED GM COMMERCIAL

Zepto News, Culture & Awards

Emily Curlewis has been appointed General Manager, Commercial, expanding her remit after more than four years at Zepto.

In her new role, Canberra-based Emily will lead Zepto's Commercial function across Sales, Relationships and Marketing — bringing these capabilities together into a single, integrated commercial and go-to-market function.

Her remit spans the full customer and revenue lifecycle: enterprise acquisition, growth of existing customer relationships, marketing and market positioning, government and industry engagement, and commercial strategy and execution.

Emily was the recipient of the Inspiration Award at the 2025 Women in Payments Australia Awards.

Announcing the appointment, Zepto CEO and Co-founder Matt Cheers said Emily has been instrumental in the company's growth since joining in 2022.

"Over the past four years, Em has been instrumental in Zepto's growth — shaping our go-to-market strategy, sharpening our enterprise positioning, and building trusted relationships across industry and government. She's helped establish Zepto as one of the most respected voices in Australia's payments ecosystem."

Matt Cheers

Cheers said the new integrated structure reflects what it will take for Zepto to deliver on its next phase of growth:

"Building the future of money movement takes more than great products — it takes strong customer relationships, deep industry partnerships, and a commercial team that brings it all together. That's exactly what Em leads."

A track record built at Zepto

Emily joined Zepto in 2022 as Head of Marketing, Communications and Government Engagement, and has been a member of Zepto's Commercial Leadership Team throughout her tenure. In that time, she has played a significant role in the company's growth and evolution — helping shape Zepto's enterprise go-to-market strategy, strengthen its positioning within the payments ecosystem, and build trusted relationships across customers, industry, government and regulatory stakeholders.

Commercial function for Zepto's next phase

The appointment comes as Zepto enters its next phase of growth, building on its position in account-to-account payments and expanding the value it delivers beyond payment infrastructure into intelligence, data and insights.

A key focus for the newly integrated Commercial function will be connecting customer and market insight more closely with product strategy, accelerating the commercialisation and adoption of Zepto's evolving product portfolio, and translating innovation into sustainable commercial growth.

About Emily

Emily brings more than 20 years of experience across payments, technology, commercial strategy, marketing and operations. Prior to Zepto, she held senior leadership roles at PayPal and Atturra, where she served as both CMO and COO during the company's transformation and preparation for IPO — with responsibility spanning strategy, operations, P&L and cross-functional leadership.

Emily is also a Board Director of DSPANZ where she is Co-Chair of the Payments Working Group with Australian Payments Plus (AP+) and a member of the Women in Payments Australia Advisory Board, and remains actively involved in Australia's broader payments and technology ecosystem. In 2025, she was named the recipient of the Women in Payments Australia Inspiration Award.
