New account name verification solution helps businesses reduce payments fraud and failures. Zepto co-founder, Trevor Wistaff, breaks the news.
It has been my great pleasure to work on and announce the launch of Zepto Validate — a name verification service that builds on the Confirmation of Payee service that launched across Australian banks in July 2025.
Confirmation of Payee was developed by Australian Payments Plus (AP+) in collaboration with Australia’s banking industry. The service provides an extra layer of protection against scams and mistaken payments by checking the account name, BSB and account number against the data held by the recipient bank, and providing a match outcome before money is sent.
Zepto Validate builds on Confirmation of Payee by overlaying Zepto’s proprietary payment intelligence to provide:
- A risk score tuned to the merchant’s vertical, factoring in a bank account’s standing, tenure, and historic fraud signals to name a few;
- Suggested payment channel that recommends the most reliable account to account channel to use for that particular account; and
- A simple joint account indicator to further help decision making.
The benefits to businesses are fewer failed payments, reduced fraud, and a frictionless customer onboarding experience, reinforcing Zepto’s close-to-the-rails strategy for trusted, intelligent and secure account verification.

Early adopters underscore market momentum
Automated transaction monitoring platform Satori will use Zepto Validate inside its OK2Pay solution to help business clients prevent misdirected or fraudulent payments related to invoices, suppliers and contractors. Marmalade and PointsBet are also adding Zepto Validate to their suite of Zepto payment solutions.
