NXNE Summit 2024: Elevate
The Zepto team jetted off to the Gold Coast for our annual all-company summit!
With the theme being Elevate, this year’s event was a powerful testament to our collective drive to reach new heights and redefine what’s possible. Being a remote-first organisation, these events provide the perfect opportunity for us to connect, bond and elevate.
From an inspiring keynote by Mark Mathews, to fireside chats with Zepto customers and payment industry big-hitters, to arcade antics at the Hijinx Hotel – it was a week to remember.
Spaceship Soaring
Spaceship is a financial services company on a mission to enable Australians to invest in their future. Looking to enhance its operational environment and elevate its customer experience, it zeroed in on better payments as an enabler of both.
We were recently joined by Spaceship's COO — Katrina Sly — for a Pioneering Perspectives conversation. Katrina described how partnering with Zepto meant that Spaceship could fast-track the delivery of enhanced customer payment experiences on the real-time payment rails of the NPP.

Merchant Risk Council Conference
At the Merchant Risk Council conference on 18 June, RBA's Head of Payments Policy, Ellis Connolly, delivered the 'Online Retail Payments – Some Policy Issues' keynote calling out PayTo as an alternative to cards for retail payments. PayTo, he noted, "provides a convenient and secure way for consumers to authorise merchants to initiate a payment from their account via the NPP."
Also on the agenda was the ‘Navigating PayTo – Retail Insights, Mandates and Opportunities' session. Zepto's Justin Steer was on-panel alongside Katrina Stuart [AP+] and Adam Gruyich [ANZ]. The trio explored PayTo's impact on retail experiences, and took a closer look at the NPP.
Fetch x Zepto
Zepto customer and Australian pet insurance industry trailblazer, Fetch, delivers real-time payouts to vets as a customer experience differentiator in a booming sector.
As Phil Wilson-Brown, co-founder of Fetch put it: “There is no proposition without those real-time payouts to vets, and Zepto created that facility for us. It's had a huge impact.” More HERE.

The Future of Money is...
We loved seeing Zepto CEO, Chris Jewell, in full flight delivering a TED-style presentation at the Innovation Bay 'Inspire' event in Sydney.
The event brought together 250 influential people in the ANZ startup industry for a crowdsourced collage of what the future holds told by the people who are building and investing in it.

Nacha Smarter Faster Payments Conference
Chris Jewell and Justin Steer [Head of Solutions & Customer Success] represented Zepto at the Nacha Smarter Faster Payments conference in Miami in early May.
Each year, the Nacha conference becomes the centre of the real-time payments universe. This year was no exception with conference streams focusing on disruptive ideas & technologies, smarter & faster payment experiences, compliance & regulation, cybersecurity & risk — all things we obsess about at Zepto.

December 2023 — Public Policy Work
We put huge effort into influencing the future of payments regulation by making submissions to Treasury’s consultations. As pioneers of payments innovation in Australia, Zepto is well positioned to provide insights to Treasury.
So, it was super satisfying to see in early December that Treasury had accepted a number of our recommendations.
Likewise, following a submission on Treasury's Consumer Data Right draft legislation to enable Action Initiation, we joined a Senate Economics Legislation Committee’s inquiry into Treasury Laws Amendment.
November 2023 — WIPAUS2023 Symposium
The Women in Payments annual symposium took place in Melbourne in November, delivering two days of high quality content and invaluable interactions.
As a remote-first business, events like this are vital to Zepto. Not just as a way to engage our industry, prospects and customers, but also to catch-up IRL with colleagues who we typically only see on laptop screens.

October 2023 — Byron - Sydney - Vegas
In mid-October 2023, Zepto CEO Chris Jewell joined Ethan Teas [EGM Payments at CBA] and Leigh O'Neill [EGM Money at Xero] in the 'How Australia can connect & lead the world in fintech [again]' session at the epic SXSW Sydney event. Then it was wheels-up for Chris and Zepto co-founder, Matt Cheers, as they took off for Money 20/20 USA in Las Vegas — the world’s biggest, most influential gathering of the global money ecosystem.
September 2023 — Intersekt Connections
In late August, Fintech Australia assembled another world-class line-up of speakers, masterclasses, keynotes and panels for Intersekt. We were delighted to have Zepto voices in a pair of them on Day-1. August 2023 — Breaking New Ground
We are super proud of this latest payments game-changer created for OZEDI to deliver Australia’s first instant super fund payments. OZEDI delivers critical data swiftly, securely and cost effectively enabling software companies to offer their customers Single Touch Payroll, SuperStream, Standard Business Reporting and eInvoicing. This first-of-a-kind partnership allows businesses to instantly and securely pay contributions to super funds via the New Payment Platform [NPP] with a new PayTo-powered SuperStream service, bringing real time payments into critical parts of the financial services industry. July 2023 — CDR Month 2023
June was CDR Month — a joint initiative from Fintech Australia, Australian Information Industry Association [AIIA], and FDATA ANZ. We loved seeing Zepto co-founder Trevor Wistaff in action on the 'CDR and the future of payments' panel at the marquee closing event — the CDR Month Showcase in Sydney.
